    feeder rods

    good morning,

i´m going to purchase a new feeder rod.

planned usage is barbel fishing in the rhine (rijn) and as well fishing in canals which almost have no current.

therefore i am looking for a rod which can be used on a variety of conditions with a focus on river fishing.
casting weights up to approximately 200 gramms should be possible.. and in turn rod should be able to handle lighter weights as well.

    which models would you recommend?

do the bert van gerven/ jan van schendel titan-feeders match with my requirements?

what is the difference betweeen those rods?

    any help is appreciated.

    thanks in advance

    BR

    Hi marc,

I think the Titan models of van Schendel/van Gerven are copies of the perfect titan feeder made by Spro. There is even a new titan model that is sold by a new chain of shops called F4E (fishing for ever). It's very close to the Spro 4.20 model. I suggest you buy two rods, one for feeders that are maximum 100 gram. (the spro 4.20 will be perfect for that), and a heavier one for heavier feeders. For weights up to 150 grams and short distance i use an Xtreme Heavy made by Ultimate.

      hi.

      thanks for your reply.

meanwhile, i have found out, that browning do produce feeders that should be suitable for the mentioned style of fishing as well. do you know about them?

      regarding spro:

do you mean the "tritan feeder" which can currently be seen online?

      concerning titan:
who produces them. they are not well known in the land of the kartoffels (germany)...

      anyway- thanks for your help.

      best regards

      marc

I saw the heavy feeders from Browning, they look good, but never had the chance for fishing with them.

Concerning the spro, i mean the 4.20 model, for details look at:

          hi,

finally i saw the shimano (antares) feeders.

what can you say about them?

          what about ultimate feeders?

my dealer stated he prefers them against spro....

          at last:

          what about casting weights:

except from fishing extremely heavy currents what is enough?
at this time i prefer fishing canals which can be compared to the noordhollandskanaal, the julianakanaal/ lateralkanaal in limburg and lakes at hich you have to throw quite far out to reach the fish...

          thanks in advance.

            Marc,

            All I know is this:

If I had to buy new feederrods for the conditions you mentioned (and more) I wouldn't hesitate or think twice.

Shakespeare has manufactured two feederrods, designed by Peter v.d. Willik.

My opinion: they are the best on the market at this moment.
The heaviest of the two is called "P.v.d.Willik long distance feeder", it is 4,50 meter and has two tips.
The light one is the "P.v.d.Willik competition feeder" it is 3,90 meter and has three tips.

Not cheap, but first class !

Well Marc, the rods can be seen at www.shakespeare.nl. Choose "Catalogus 2002" from the menu an then "Pickers/feeders".
                The pictures can be enlarged.

You can buy them in any store which sells shakespeare products. I would recommend you to go there.

Just seeing isn't enough. You have to hold them in your hands. At that very moment you know what I know.
